Great Depression + New Deal Unit
- Day 1 Lesson Plan
- Students will work in small groups to learn about the economic and social causes of the Great Depression. Students will complete an activity that has them role play as families from the depression era. Afterwards, students will react to their experience.
- Day 2 Lesson Plan
- Students will work in small groups to learn about the Great Depression and Dust Bowl, along with how these events affected the American people. Students will complete an activity that has them analyzing primary sources from the era and either creating a song or comic as a reaction.

- Day 3 Lesson Plan
- Students will work in small groups to learn about President Hoover's and President Roosevelt's presidencies, including the New Deal Programs. Students will complete an activity examining the black experience in the Civilian Conservation Corps through primary sources and will write a letter as a response.
- Day 4 Lesson Plan
- Students will work in small groups to learn more about FDR and the New Deal programs. Students will complete an activity having them analyze primary sources and will create their own version of a fireside chat as a response.
- Day 5 Lesson Plan
- Students will work together to learn more about the New Deal, specifically the Work Progress Administration. Students will complete an activity having them examine New Deal era art and will create a poster as a response.

- Day 6 Lesson Plan
- Students will review for the upcoming test. Students will complete an activity where they will examine primary sources and create a speech from the perspective of a 1930s politician attempting to address issues they examined.
- Day 7 Lesson Plan
- Students will take a test covering the Great Depression and New Deal. After the test students will listen to an online lecture and discussion and answer short response questions based on what they learned.
